Tuesday 6/28. Clarksboro NJ.

370 miles today. Started in NH, went through Massachusetts and Connecticut,a bit of New York to get to New Jersey to view the back side of Lady Liberty. The traffic at the George Washington Bridge was a tedious series of merging lanes coming into two lanes. At least most of the trucks stayed on the upper deck once on the bridge. It got up to 100* in some places. Having the air conditioning work is making this trip tolerable for John. We are here for2 nights and head inland to Franklin NY for the 4th. I hope to explore a bit of Philadelphia tomorrow. --- De Williams http://followjoy.blogspot.com

Slow day exploring

We spent the morning tooling around in a borrowed pick up because our air conditioning was being repaired. It just quit working! There had been problems with it. Needed a new compressor. A local repair shop fit us i. Same day to het us back on the road. We explored Hampton Beach. $15 day use fee for parking at the beaches. The homes were beautiful…how the 1% live. Where there is no fee, parking is limited to 1 hour. Onward tomorrow to Philadelphia. --- De Williams http://followjoy.blogspot.com

Monday 6/21. 445 miles.

Went through 4 states today-Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York. The Garmin didn't know we couldn't go into Canada so I had to figure it out. A lot of sideways motion to get from there to here. Saw the skyline for Detroit, Cleveland, and Buffalo. Crossed the Cuyahoga and Niagara Rivers. Had our first White Castle and toll road experiences. Tomorrow we explore Niagara Falls. --- De Williams http://followjoy.blogspot.com

Downtime has been nice

We are staying by the St Mary River in Sault Ste Marie MI. First time we have camped right on a river like this. Found a good restaurant downtown, (Wicked Sister) and supported Little League by buying ice cream scoops. A few large (huge) cargo ships have gone by along with tour boats and pleasure boats. There was even a sail boat and kayakers. One more day here, then we are headed for Niagara Falls in NY. --- De Williams http://followjoy.blogspot.com

6/10 347 miles. Lewistown MT to Williston ND

The days drive was uneventful. We crossed the Missouri River. Road runners were the wildlife sighting along with lots of oil wells. We drove under large white puffy clouds into thunder and lightening. There was a tornado watch! An warning light came on so we had to hunt down a dodge dealer who could read our codes. Turned out it is a sensor that we can replace down the road. --- De Williams http://followjoy.blogspot.com

Thunder, lightning, and hail.

Quite the night.  We stayed in Williston ND, right in the rapidly moving band of weather. The dog was terrified panting and shaking. John said the hail  was the size of pecans.   Sounded like tennis balls from inside!   --- De Williams http://followjoy.blogspot.com
